Now that you have finally arrived in New Zealand you will need to learn how to do things the Kiwi way. For South Africans the process of adapting to life in New Zealand is usually not such a big shock to the system as both countries belief systems are based on Western principles.
What’s Different about life in New Zealand?
There are, however, still many things that are different or done differently in New Zealand. Kiwis have their own expressions and different names for common items that are not the same as in South Africa. Of course the accent is not the same here so you will need to adapt to hearing and possibly even saying things differently. The weather is not the same and there is that big ‘ole hole in the ozone layer!

Learn New Zealand
In South Africa we take for granted our knowledge of the country. If somebody talks about Springbok or East London we instinctively know where that place is or at least have a good idea of roughly where it is. When you immigrate to New Zealand, all that knowledge is obsolete. You then find yourself absolutely lost when people start talking about their holiday in the Wairarapa or fishing in Nelson, etc. The sooner you can learn the region and major town names, the sooner you will start to feel at home in your new country. For this reason we have designed a series of tools that will help you to learn the names of the towns and regions in New Zealand.
You can start to learn the names even before you arrive here as it will help you immensely when job and house hunting as well.
